I still can't believe how much that whole place changed so quickly; was a strange decision IMO. Ah, so this forum was born out of the ashes of the old Myresistance?

This forum was born out of the ashes of loads of things xD It contains ashes of deleted threads, forum migrations, clan inestabilities, kidnapped crawlers... and then it also contains loads of good intentions and dreams That's how this nation was born, more or less.

Ah, that's kinda sad that it had to come to creating a whole new forum to get the MyR userbase back (though I have to say, I like this place more), but also quite good that someone's been so determined for that community to survive that they created this whole place, looks like humanity's got a good few years left yet (sorry for the hyperbole there )

The big question that I have in regard to MAG is where will the audience come from? It is being released the same time COD:MW2 comes out. COD:W@W has sold 11 million copies. MW2 is going to be enormous (20million+). Any shooter game, such a MAG, that competes with it is going to get destroyed. The best chance for MAG to succeed is to push it back until well into 2010.

I agree, Hoos. If it's released at the same time as COD, they might also suffer. It's a new game, new way of playing... people either will get really into it.. or go back to something comfortable, like COD. The best bet would be one of those months were nothing seems to happen, so people can keep trying it and getting into it.

Exactly, put the game out after March. COD is the 800-pound gorilla in the room and if you are developing a FPS then you better be strategic about when you release it. Launching it the same time as COD:MW2 is asinine.

MAG doesn't even get a bump from the huge 360 fanbase because it's a Sony exclusive. The entire release date thing simply baffles me. I'm not in the industry so there must be something that I'm missing.

I wonder how long it'd be before people actually sick of the milking of a series But either way, yep MW2 will decimate any other game released around that time, regardless of the genre; the majority of games released in November won't stand a chance

We want to try to play as many different games together as possible. We're always looking for something good to come along, and we certainly have our eye on this one. Waiting to see how it all works out, myself. That's a loooota people.

Right. Weve had discussions as to what the next main game or two is the majority of us will be interested in, but no matter what games come or go, we'll always move through them together.
Its looking like MAG and COD are the fore runners for our numbers. Looking into drake2 some. Personally.... Not sure Ill ever be done with R2 fully until R3 (unless it just so dries up of players). There will be a time I dont play it as often, but Ill always want to.

Very good explanations guys. Thanks. I was just curious about future plans for this game. The more I hear about this game the more I want to play it. Seems like a game that is going to involve alot of teamwork so it would be nice to have some people that you know playing on your team that can function as a unit. Looks like this game is going to kill alot of lone wolves. Either run with the pack or run alone and lose out on valuable experience.

So.....isnt this Battlefield Bad Company just done a little better?

I see very little difference in the two.
This could be that both betas used the same game mode for their testing.
What do betas have against tdms?

I can do without sabotage but I'm really getting into Domination. Have you played that yet?

Actually no, but it took me almost one whole night just to figure out how to get into any game. I'll have to look a bit closer I suppose.

I will say that this is a stand out from all the other fps that have to compete with MW2. I can see it taking everyone's second place slot. I didnt get tons of time to play because I started having problems staying connected to their servers but thats to be expected in a beta. But its not bad.
I do hope the full game has an option to lay out your own button config.
Some of them make little sense how they have them now.

Ive had some connection problems myself. I usually just have to back out of the game completely then restart. Sabotage is a good game to start on to get the feel of the controls.Theres only 64 players per game in that mode. Domination gives you a better feel for what the game is like full scale. Each team has 4 platoons. Each platoon has 32 players split into 4 different squads. The game feels massive and your just a small part of it. You can still make a difference as long as your working with your team. I also like how you can heal yourself. Theres been quit a few times already that I should have died but ducked away real quick and healed. I dont know if any other fps has this already but I like the way you get points for leveling and then you get to choose what skills or weapons you unlock as opposed to games like R2 where things unlock automatically level to level even if its stuff you may never use. Something else this game has that other games lack is team identity. I'm not just a random human or chimera. American or Russian. I'm apart of a clan even when my [/\] clans not playing. I am Raven every game.

I really didnt get to see it too long. It was heading into the 2nd game I lost connection.
I tried to back out fully once or twice, but I just couldn't get it to re connect.

It kicked me out of PSN once last night, but was able to reconnect easily.

The game has potential and the fact that you can make a party of eight and be guaranteed to be in the same squad every-time .. is REALLY nice. Brings the "small game" feel into a massive game

would like to see tighter match making in the final cut ... disparity in a few of the games I played was huge, while the rest were quite reasonable.

Like I told EcR over on the M&A forums...I'm really digging this game.

To really appreciate this game you HAVE to get out of the Call of Duty mindset. The biggets problem is people keep trying to compare the two games because they are both First Person Shooters when really that's the only thing the two games have in common. This game relies heavily on team work and strategy whereas in most CoD games you can just kill a bunch of dudes by yourself and be pretty sure that your team will probably win.

I'm really excited for the release date as I can't wait to see the full game and all it has to offer. I'm guessing this will relieve the huge dissapointment that Modern Warfare 2 was for me.

The times I have enjoyed the most in MW2 are the ones in which our party played as a team. If MAG requires that style of gameplay then it could be fun.

Amen to that brother. I had hoped that MW2 would have been a good temporary replacement/substitute/upgrade from R2. While I do think it is a pretty solid game, its not the game for me.The more I play MAG the more addicting it gets. Its unfortunate the beta ends soon. But I'm just thankful I got to play it before it comes out and get a grasp on the controls and general gameplay.

@ ETW: If your looking for a game thats more team oriented then maybe you should check this one out. You don't even have to have a high kill count to get big points either. I had a game where I only had 7 kills 3 assists and made 2nd mvp with about 475 exp. out of a 64 player team. All I did was run around healing/reviving teammates. Most of my kills came from the mines I set up near our satellite. Support roles seem to be the biggest source of points from what I can tell.

The biggest game I've had so far was 751 exp. I was the "crazy medic" of our squad. I was a little heal happy that game. I was running right through enemy fire to revive people. Run right into a room where 3 of my guys were down with enemies waiting and try to get one up and get out. Then run right back in to do the same thing over till I got killed. If nobody was down in our area I'd go lend support to other squads. I tried to keep everyone up and moving. We still lost but we put up a damn good fight. In the end I had over 30 deaths but it paid off in points.

Well Josie, I'm going to take your word for it. I have been asking about how many of the clan are getting it. I see you're in anyway, so that's good enough for me. I haven't played a game with you in a long time. It'd be good to be back in touch again. I haven't played a clan game for quite a while in fact. I didn't get MW2, so I'll be judging this on it's own merits.

If eat and a few of the others got it also it could turn out to be a great experience.
