| I can totally see Odin standing in for the "Mod" summon. He has two attacks. The Spear of Troll Slaying, which edits enemy posts. Bantetsuken, which is so powerful it bans you from posting on the entire internet. I wouldn't mess with him. |

| Yes, I know, but what bothers me is that there's nothing in the moderation log... So who did it? |

| * Checks Liam's pulse... Then his forehead... Then his pint glass... *My god! This man is almost completely out of Guinness.. No wonder he's not himself. * Dials 969 for the emergency alcohol services... ** Dial tone... Click! * " Erm, hello there... What can we be doin' ya for this foine marnin? " " Pint of black stuff, packet of pork scratchings and change for the jukey, STAT!!! " * Bar from a pub appears in a flash of green smoke... Barman looks very similar to Liam in a lot of ways, Leo dismisses it as coincidence *" Ney problem, my friend.... Terrible weather we's havin' oot there, wouldn't you say? " * Pours half the guinness... Lets it settle... *" Any particular song on the Jukey, barkeep? " " Oh aye... I'm always partial to that Ronan Keating fella, you know the one? " * Pours rest of guinness... Places it on bar *" Oh yeah, he's done a few songs since Boyzone split, hasn't he... Not really my cup of tea, though, but I'll put it on if you want. " " Nah, it's okay, not that bothered, Pork scratchings wasn't it? " " Yeah, thanks. " * Conversation continues about the state of the world etc... *" So, what do I owe you, barkeep? " " Nothing sir... I'm just a figment of your imagination... I'm not even real. " * Wibbly wobbly, wibbly wobbly, wibbly wobbly... Snaps back to reality, sees Liam lying on the floor, coughing *OMG, Liam! I'm sorry dude... Anything I can do? * Takes a pork scratching from the packet, eats it and offers the packet to Liam... * |

| Now this really feels like an RPG. No matter what kind you're playing you always end up in a pub at some point. |

...Sorry, it's a wine bar, not a pub. And any paladins lose 20 HP for ordering a Babycham. |

| Well, obviously. I mean, paladins of evil gods wouldn't suffer damage for being drunk. It's often encouraged by some evil gods. Especially evil Dwarven gods. And neutral gods? Well, they just don't care as long as the number of people doing the drunken carousing is equal to the number of people who are offended by it. |

| Well, fanboys and fangirls, I'd say we're due for a bump. But to what do we owe this bump? Just a little game called Final Fantasy 7. Our good buddy Leo has started in on it recently and has asked me, "I don't get it. What was the big draw here?" or words to that effect. I had planned to give him my thoughts on the subject, but I think multiple opinions would work best. So, my Final Fanaddicts, what do you think? What did you like about this game? What did you hate? What do you think made it the icon it is? Please, please keep the spoilers to a minimum. Don't ruin the plot for a first time player. I knew a certain important fact beforehand and though I still love the game, I would rather have been surprised. Well, without further yammering from me, whatcha think? Let's mosey. |

| Hmmm..
For me it was my first step away from normal action games on the PS. It was rather in depth, great story, customizable stuff. Really sucked me in. It was a lot of things I dont think most other rpgs were at the time.
But I guess if you were to compare the game now to others like it of today it would seem pretty pale. Graphics alone would be the most notable, but that doesn't really make a game by its own merits. I think the reason someone who never played it before would find it lack luster is because they didnt play it at release. It some what evolved RPGs into what they are now. So at the time it was huge. And everyone always remembers something greater than what it may have really been. FoM anyone? Some reputations enlarge with nostalgia. |

| ^ What he said ^ It was the seed. It broke the boundries, at the time, for RPGs, the story side quests, customizations depth scope everything, it was at the time perfection. |

| Very similar to what I was thinking, Six. Now, when Leo asked me that question it should be noted that he was only about 10 minutes in. I'm interested to know if you've gotten any further, Leo. And if so, what do you think now? I also wanted to address your confusion about how weird it was that the characters "went inside each other". (Cue Liam... ) It was a hold over from earlier games in the series. Apparently, they wanted everyone to know that the heroes are in a group. A very, very close group. Really, I'm not sure why they went that route in the with the jump into 3-D characters. Seems they realized that it was a bit odd in later games, though. In FF 8, your main character is followed around by the other two in the party. An improvement, but they do exactly what the leader does as they follow him around. Still very odd. FF 9 got it right, I think. You wander around as Zidane, but when there's something that involves other characters, there's a brief darkening of the screen and they all appear where they would be when it brightens. Or they'll sometimes make it as though Zidane was out front and have the others walk up from off screen. The graphics. Yeah, nostalgia tells me that they were awesome. And in truth, they were at the time. Square has always been the front runner in that category, imho. If you just need a dose of the better stuff, then after you finish, watch Advent Children. That's enough to satisfy the needs of any graphics junkie. |
