- They recap R2 - Capelli started a family with Susan (Hale's Stepsister) - Their son is sick so Capelli has to go to New York to get an anti-virus - Malikov LIVES!! - They confirm co-op campaign (Capelli, Malikov, & John Harper [Capelli's partner]) are key characters (but no alternate story co-op like R2) - They describe a couple scenes (some related to the leaked images) - One of the multiplayer maps is in an African Prison - Chimeran Plant Life (that explodes when shot) shows that the world is changing - Describes some boat scenes from the campaign - Talk about the new smarter AI (climb over walls, and through windows and stuff) - Long legs jumping from roof to roof shooting down at you - The Mutator: A new weapon that shoots biological mist that causes boils and stuff on the enemy and then makes them pop hurting the other nearby enemies Secondary fire makes them go insane and attack their buddies - Other Weapons: Bullseye, Magnum, Shotgun, Auger, carbine are all back... and all weapons are upgradable as you use them more and more Weapons are also made to look more improvised so... grenades are shaped like food cans full of nails and such... - Online was talked about but not much is known yet: it says they wanna make it more organized and not a cluster like the 60 player matches in R2 - Also Ted Price handed the reigns to Marcus Smith to do alot of the other work - Humans eating humans cuz lack of food... NICE!
Story: Basically Capelli is trying to get the Hale Vaccine which was made by Malikov from Hale's blood... the vaccine may cure the chimeran virus... Capelli is doing this to save his son so he goes with Malikov to New York, St. Louis, etc. They also have no more gas so everything needs to be run off of Chimeran Energy cores which have to be stolen from chimeran ships...
PHEW!!! alot of info but i covered all the basics... I feel like im the only one who got it today so any quesions? i cant take pics or i'll get banned by the mods so this is the best i can do for now!

scroll down about half way to see the initial post. jstevenson comments on is at the top of the next page my point was more that its not "hale's story" its a story of mans fight against the chimera. well at least thats what it was supposed to be. they kinda f'd that in r2. thats probably why i like FOM's campaign so much more than R2. Story centered rather than character centered. and i liked the narrative from the looks of the screens and the above, cappelli is a bit beyond his roid rage years anyways and his beany is gone thats quote is a summary of whats in the game informer article |

| Got my issue of GI today...seeing the "Malikov Lives" caption made me go all crazy. It was also interesting to see that even though Hale is dead, he will be playing a role in the games story. Even in death he is able to aid humanity, this time through an anti-virus. Still though, a family man styled Capelli definitely will be fun to watch. |

I want to explain a bit more, and why I said this about the story. I am the guy who has only played FoM and R2. I dont own a psp. I havent read a book. Or flipped through comics. I know of the story what has been presented to me in the console games. To suddenly cut a hard right and switch directions, to me, the guy who only played the 2 games, seems silly. In fact, it almost makes no sense. I didnt even know Hale had a sister until this morning. And she just so happens to hook up with Capelli? And his kid is sick? And???????????? Its almost like they wrapped R2 and went.... "uhm...shit, now what do we do guys? We just killed our main guy." "UHm, how bout something with scar face?" Where is the conclusion? Im sure its there but when given the info we have it feels like they had to find a new vehicle to the end, and made up what ever they had to to get there. I do hope I am wrong My biggest concerns for R3 come in R2. A game which, seems to have been made by a company that has no interest or desire to support there games. And I dont mean dlc, as despite the useless nature of it, at least it was present. They left unbalanced weapons. Terrible spawn points A freaking exploit in a power house weapon Log in issues Matchmaking issues Stat loss etc etc etc They did zero to correct anything. So as much as I would like to...I will not pre oreder R3 Its too much of a crap shoot. You guys know me. I have played both those games combined more than anything else in my library. But 60 bucks is 60 bucks. And I cant just throw it at used to be good. |

| imo i think when FOM wrapped ther where like "shiiii, now what" r2 didnt stay very true to what FOM set up. i think there were a few directions they could have gone and they seemed to pick the worst choice. i think the issue with R2's support is they tried to make everyone happy but ended up with the opposite. the online co-op was amazing, the campaign was meh and the comp was pretty good, but could have been better (obvious reasons here). i think they realized they f'd r2 in the "A" and decided to wash their hands of it and move on thats just me though |

| Valid points, I guess. I think that IG does rely on other fiction to tell their story. Susan (Hal's stepsister) appeared in letters to Hale in the ARG (previous to the release of R2), then they also explained that they were so close and blahblahblah. Then you have the comic and the book, which I still have,'t read. I didn't know about all the issues not fixed. After a few weeks, I moved from R2 to COD4 because I did not enjoy the multiplayer. :S I do look forward to it anyway, I am just "plot addicted", if I have enjoyed the first part, I always want to see "what happens next", that is the reason I read bad books from trilogies or series. |

thats just me though Thats kind of what I was hinting at. It just feels like they are making it up as they go along. I can understand them wanting to wash their hands of it, as long as they understand it comes at the cost of a pre order. The money is going to go to SOME game. It could be theirs. But I have seen and played so much better and better supported games. I just dont know if I can trust them to even stay on top of, much less compete with whats out there. Once more info and more importantly gameplay footage is released, Ill have a better time making a real and final call. ATM, Im holding out for one thing. Insom delivers the fun. Usually. A working online, a good clan section, and good peeps goes a long way. Far enough that despite some lacking from the first column in regards to R2 it can have you playing a crap ass game for a long time. If they bring that....then its all good. Im just afraid the see saw teeter totter of We want to expand our fan base/ we want to support our hard core vets is going to kill this title once and for all. They had no one to listen to but themselves with FoM, and look what it produced. A part of me thinks they just happened to be in the right place at the right time, but the game was solid, and needed for a new console like the ps3. |

| IG has expanded since Rfom days.. That's down to R2 being a 'catch all' title that brought them in a shed-load of cash from sales, you can't deny that. I think it's a little unfair to be judging the story arc before the game has been released... R2 picked up from Rfom okay, I don't remember any gaping plot holes in that transition and have no reason to think they'll be in the next installment either. I'm willing to give IG the benefit of the doubt with this one, I think they've learnt a lot from the two Resistance titles so far and also other games out there... Third time's the charm and all that. Besides, I think you'll have 'Girl with a stick' type experience with the game before anyone asks you to drop $60 on it, Sixy, don't you? |

| Maybe. I suppose you are right about it not being fair, but a part of me just doesnt understand branching the story off of things not everyone has had a chance to see/read/do. Presumptuous comes to mind actually. If they find some way to explain all the stuff that everyone who has read books comics and args sees as common knowledge in one game than, yes, Ill be taking my foot out of my mouth.
I guess all I or anyone can do is wait, but going on track record alone, I had kind of put this game on to a side burner long before it was even announced that it was being made. We can speculate that IG just wanted to "wash their hands" of R2 but the truth is I spent months re leveling characters (a total of 4 times due to stat loss), getting spawned on top of, having to quit out of the game and re enter it just to get the match maker to work, and I dont even want to total the deaths from wraith hoppers....oh, and through it all heard a ton of excuses from the devs as to why those things were there, and unfixed.
I guess imo, it doesnt matter how good the few good things are when the bad things are so bad even the developers dont want to try.
Im just very hesitant is all. I know a lot of us know IG guys and are close, and a lot of us came from Myres etc. That wont stop me from putting them back on the proving ground. They are one of, if not the only developer I have purchased every game they made. Every title, every series, every console. For that to come to a halt really means somewhere, something went screwy. Im not out to offend people, and I know I always come off so opinionated, but they need to step up the game if that record is going to continue. 60 bucks is a lot of money for excuses.

| To be honest, you guys already know my stance on Resistance 3. I, like Six, have purchased every IG game they have released, including Disruptor. I love the Resistance series to death, so I'm going to be making this a Day 1 purchase.
I congratulate IG for having the balls to kill off their beloved character Hale. No one, and I mean NO ONE, saw that coming. Capelli may have some big shoes to fill, but I have a feeling he will do it just fine. |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]1900sJune, 1908 - Tunguska Event: 2,150 square kilometers of forest are flattened in Siberia, Russia in a mysterious explosion. The resulting changes to atmospheric pressure register on barographs as far away as Iceland. 1920sAugust, 1920 - Russian mineralogist Leonid Kulik leads a scientific expedition into the Tunguska incident. When his team loses contact with the Russian Academy of Sciences, the expedition is presumed lost to an early winter. September, 1921 - In the face of European anti-imperialist propaganda and growing fear of infiltration, Russia closes communication with the outside world. A barbed-wire barrier is erected along the length of the Russian/European border. Over the next five years, the barrier is reinforced, eventually becoming solid concrete. When complete, the Russian Wall is longer than the Great Wall of China. November, 1922 - Nathan Hale is born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. 1927 - The Chimera have begun their attack on Russia. Dr. Fyodor Malikov creates an experimental vaccine which shows promise in creating a resistance to the Chimeran virus. Desperate to stem the Chimeran tide the Russian government orders all surviving soldiers to be vaccinated. 1928 - Most of the Russian soldiers who have received Malikov’s vaccine demonstrate a strong resistance to the Chimeran virus and are effective in fighting the Chimera. Yet some soldiers exhibit erratic and violent behavior. Some disappear from their posts. 1930sSeptember, 1930 - Almost 90% of the vaccinated Russian soldiers have gone AWOL. These soldiers have banded together into small groups and roam the Russian countryside preying on other humans, they are referred to as Cloven. They become as much of a threat as the Chimera. Dr. Malikov works desperately to improve his vaccine but his efforts are hindered as he has to move from place to place to avoid the encroaching conflict. May, 1934 - Several miners claim to have unearthed a portion of a buried metallic structure at the Big Scrape copper mine in Nevada, USA. The US government sends federal agents to investigate and interview the miners. Citing safety concerns, the US government seizes control of the mine site and set up a twelve mile military perimeter around the area. Most of the miners later denied the finding, claiming that it was merely a vein of iron ore. The Department of War charters the Special Research Projects Agency (SRPA). Upon its inception, the SRPA has no mission statement or declared goals. December, 1938 - Senator Robert Taft, a staunch isolationist, views the naval buildup as the first step towards international political involvement and foreign military endeavors. Taft makes it his personal mission to stop Roosevelt’s re-election. A lackluster public speaker, Taft is unable to inspire a following himself. He becomes a zealous kingmaker for a charismatic Junior Senator from Montana, Noah Grace. 1940sNovember, 1940 - Noah Grace defeats Franklin D. Roosevelt by the narrowest margin of any Presidential election in US history. December, 1941 - Fearing for his life, Dr. Malikov flees to England with his research. February, 1947 - A man believed to be a Russian refugee appears at the British embassy in Estonia. The man’s hands are frozen completely solid around a leather satchel. The man, referred to as “The Runner”, dies en route to Britain. The satchel he carried is found to contain what is apparently a genetically modified human skull. April, 1949 - King Edward VIII arrives in America on what is presented as a good will tour. In a closed meeting with President Noah Grace, the King presents documentation purporting the existence of a genetically modified Russian army dubbed “Chimera”. Knowing the American isolationist sentiment is against the United European Defense, he urges President Grace to help Europe combat the threat however he can. May, 1949 - The Alliance for American Autonomy (AAA) is formed with the stated mission of keeping the US out of foreign wars. Their protests of Army recruitment offices and rallies soon draw thousands of participants. May, 1949 - Hale graduates in the first class of the new Army Ranger Orientation Program. He’s assigned to the 1st Ranger Regiment. December, 1949 - The Chimera break through points all along the Russian Wall and sweep into Europe. UED Russian invasion contingency plans implemented, but quickly prove inadequate. Fantastic speed and flawless coordination allows the Chimera to roll over static defenses, such as the Bratislava Line in Czechoslovakia. 1950-1952March, 1950 - Continental Europe falls to the Chimera December, 1950 - Nathan Hale's and Joseph Capelli’s Project Abraham live trials are successful. Hale is released to United States Army Rangers for clandestine observation. January 11, 1951 - Joseph Capelli recruited into Sentinel Program at SRPA Station 003. January 29, 1951 - Joseph Capelli cited for Conduct Unbecoming (struck Senior Officer Lt. Brown during training exercise). Suspended for two weeks. March 9, 1951 - Joseph Capelli discovered in Warsaw conversion center by Bravo Team March 9, 1951. Sole survivor of Operation Bellerophon. How he survived for six weeks inside the conversion center has been omitted from the official record. His account is unverified. July 11-14, 1951 - Resistance: Fall of Man. Nathan Hale destroys Chimeran tower in Battle of London August 20, 1951 - Maine, parts of New Hampshire, Vermont and New York are hit by Spire attacks. President Grace declares the country's first Gray Zone and orders the territory sealed off. October 14, 1951 - Spire attack claims Chicago and surrounding areas. Government troops seal off a 50 mile radius around the cities. Millions are abandoned to the Chimera as the nation's second Gray Zone is declared. December 17, 1951 - The northern border of the Liberty Defense Perimeter becomes operational. Defense columns stretch from Ohio to southern Idaho. April 11, 1952 - Nathan Hale awarded Silver Star for the successful retrieval of eighteen civilians stranded inside gray territory formerly known as Wisconsin. July 24, 1952 - President Grace orders all remaining US citizens living in outer states to evacuate their homes and move within the Liberty Defense Perimeter, which is nearing completion. He commissions emergency construction of an additional 50 protection camps within the LDP. August 14, 1952 - Liberty Defense Perimeter completed. November 10, 1952 - Joseph Capelli demoted from Sergeant to Corporal November 10, 1952 and sentenced to three months inactive status. 1953-1957 February 12, 1953 - Joseph Capelli cited for Conduct Unbecoming. Attacked three physicians during routine checkup at SRPA Station 003 (SFCA). Attending physicians discover Joseph Capelli in a torpid state bleeding from apparently self-inflicted wounds. After violently attacking physicians, Capelli is subdued and then transferred to the G Level Holding Zone. Immediate psychological profile ordered. Status listed as "RED" until further notice. May, 1953 - Resistance 2. Chimera invade America. A massive Chimeran battleship attack devastates military installations on each coast. 60 percent of U.S. armed forces are killed within the first 72 hours of the assault. June, 1953 - Daedalus activates all Chimeran towers and routes them to his ship over Chicxulub, Mexico. Nathan Hale kills Daedalus. Atomic bomb detonates, “kick starts” the tower network, surging all energy toward New York City. Wormhole opens over New York City. Joseph Capelli kills Nathan Hale. Malikov finds unique antigens in Hale’s blood that are the basis for a new vaccine against the Chimera virus. July, 1953 - Capelli is dishonorably discharged from the U.S. Army. November, 1953 - Capelli makes his way to Haven, Oklahoma, meets his wife Susan, gets married. July, 1954 - Capelli and Susan give birth to a son, Jack. August 9, 1957 – Resistance 3 begins. | they probably think it'll spread resources too thin. spreading everyone out over 4 sections of one game will take a lot of man power that im guessing insom doesnt feel they have right now since theyre working on 3 (i think) games
i would personally love the onlline 8 player co-op again but if it mean ill get a better experience overall, ill take the hit |
